Nike += "5K Training";

OK, I know the post title was a little geeky, but I just wanted to talk about my new Nike+ sensor.  It’s a sensor you put in your shoe, and a dongle thing that plugs into your iPod Nano and it records all your steps and keeps track of a plethora of information.  My friend Robbie got a new iPod Nano and Nike+, so being the thrifty bastard that I am, I decided to try out his old one, and it has really got me excited about running.

It has a multitude of features, including training schedules, goals, competitions, and milestones.  It tracks times, distances, average paces, and even shows you when you used your “Power Song”.  Currently, mine is Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now, and I am on a 12 week training program to run a 5K.  I will be running the Sweetwater 5K in April, then I’ll start training for a 10K, and be ready in time for the Peachtree in July.

Anyway, just wanted to drop a word about it, and let you guys know that you can keep track of my progress on my Facebook page.

  3. Pretty good so far. I got up to 5 miles on Saturday, and my best 5K time so far is 30:30.
